Big Brother Naija house in SA causes a stir

Nigeria's launched their version of the reality show 'Big Brother' which premiered this Sunday. This is the second ever Nigerian version of Big Brother, the first edition was held eleven years ago. The Pan-African version normally takes place in SA has not been held since 2014 due to financial constrains and the return of 'Big Brother Naija' is welcomed by many.

The twelve housemates were revealed and will be staying in the house for eleven weeks but what came as a shock was that the house is in SA. Although this isn't the first time that Nigeria hosts a reality show in SA but the 2016 talent search show 'The Voice' was also shot in SA.

Taking to Twitter people question and some joked about the fact that 'Big Brother Naija' is shot in South Africa.

Some die-hard fans of the show made it clear that it doesn't matter where the show is shot, they will continue to show their support.

According Africa Magic there is already 'a fully equipped house' in South Africa with facilities required for a successful show.

"The venue is already set up with all facilities required for the successful execution of the show; this means that we are able to achieve high production values whilst meeting tight timelines/deadlines and ensuring the show comes to our viewers on time, as planned, and with the same globally renowned quality. Whilst the house is based in South Africa, the BBN show is 100% Nigerian, with fully Nigerian housemates and content," the organisers said.
