Davido joins other celebs in giving back

Davido is the latest African celeb to join the ranks of celebs paying it forward by paying fees for the underprivileged youth.
Davido revealed his plans to launch a scholarship programme and sponsor some lucky students’ education every year. He said he will start with four students this year, “Starting from this year I plan to start the Veronica Adeleke Education Scholarship program. I plan to send people to school every year,” he said.

Davido joins a number of celebrities who have seen a need to give back to their communities; Bonang recently made a similar announcement after two students contacted her asking for her help in paying for their tuition fees. One girl called in on Bonang’s radio show and the other contacted her through Twitter.

Ugandan queen of comedy Anne Kansiime is also doing her part for her community, uplifting young people through education. “Starting this year 2016 The Kansiime foundation will be taking on 30 children from 7 different schools in Western Uganda (starting from my home), then take on more from all over the country as God leads me and as he provides,” she announced in the beginning of the year.
Other celebrities who’ve been doing this for a while are AKA who under his initiative AKA scholarship pays tuition fees for a course in Sound Production. Media personality Minnie Dlamini, with her foundation focuses more on the girls and covers the basics like registration fees, transport, stipend and even getting her students a driver’s license.
