DJ Bongz leaves Mabala Noise and starts Gwaragwara Entertainment

Popular DJ and hitmaker Bongani "DJ Bongz" Dlamini has left the controversial record label Mabala Noise which he co-owned with Reggie Nkabinde.

The "Thina Sobabili" hitmaker leaves Mabala Noise effectively as from today (5 July 2017). He has now started his own company called Gwaragwara Entertainment. The name gwaragwara is taken from Bongz' popular dance move.

The award-winning DJ started the label called Emabalabala Records around 2009. Few years later Reggie Nkabinde came in as an investor and in 2015 he bought DJ Bongz out of his company.

DJ Bongz said after selling his company to Reggie he was sidelined and there were many internal problems, which have caused him to leave the company he started.

Bongz has wished Mabala Noise all the best for the future and thanked them for everything. His focus is now on his new company which he said he has already spotted some new talent to work with.

"We do have talent that we are working on signing and we will look for fresh talent," DJ Bongz manager, Linda "Dogg" Buthelezi told BET Africa on Wednesday morning.

Under Reggie's management the label has signed South Africa's top talents such as Nasty C, Riky Rick, L'Vovo and many others. It has also made headlines for allegedly giving millions of rands and fancy cars to their artists. The recent scandal that the stable has faced is that they buy awards for their artists. This made headlines after rapper Nasty C cleaned out the awards at the 2017 Metro FM Music Awards. It was rumoured that Reggie bought the awards, the label and the Metro FM, however, refuted the claims.
