SA rapper Kwesta, real name Senzo Vilakazi, has refuted the rumours that he is taking drugs.
Social media went wild on Saturday accusing the rapper of being high during his morning interview on MetroFM’s 'The Real Phat Joe Show'.
Phat Joe’s co-host Pearl Thusi posted a 30-second podcast of the interview and the rapper seemed to be out of it, slurring on his words.
Kwesta has dismissed rumours suggesting he was high, saying people should stop spreading lies.
“I do not do drugs and neither does anyone in my crew. I do not like people who spread lies,” he told Daily Sun.
“I was performing at Taboo in Sandton where Afro-pop duo Mafikizolo was having an event. My performance was at 4am and my interview with Metro FM was at 7am. You can just imagine. I had not slept,” explained the rapper.
Kwesta’s hit track ‘Ngud’ featuring Cassper Nyovest has been the crowd favourite and has been on demand on radio stations since its release early this year.
The hit maker said he understands there are people who would be throwing punches his way, but he is at a happy place in his musical journey.
“I understand. Whether I do good or bad, people are going to throw punches...I am happy that I can now play at more places and reach a lot of people,” Kwesta said.
