Ghanaian Dancehall and Afrobeat artist, MzVee says that she is excited to be nominated for the 2016 BET Awards. MzVee born Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, says it’s an honour to get the nod in the Best International Act category alongside some of Africa’s biggest acts.
The Natural Girl hit singer told BET in an interview that the nomination alone means a lot to her. “The BET Award nomination means so much to me. It means I am moving; it means where I was three years ago is definitely not where I am today. It means my music is reaching far, it means my hard work is paying off, it means people are seeing what I am doing and appreciating it,” she said.
When asked about her competition, she admitted that, “If you look at the nominees in the category, there are so many amazing nominees. They are all very good nominees. They all have (released) great music out there; they’ve been there long than I have been and so I’m like the baby of the group.”
Nevertheless, the dancehall artist is counting on the huge support she is getting from Ghana and believes that “we could bring this back home.” She says that if she doesn’t win, she is still grateful for the nomination and that for her it is an honour to be nominated
This is her second nomination for the awards; she was nominated for the Best International Artist Viewers’ Choice Award in last year’s awards of which she lost to Eddy Kenzo of Uganda.
