The rise of the black female

Black women have transcended many boundaries, and continue to do so, from fashion, to beauty and lifestyle.
We look at some of the trends that have us screaming #BlackGirlMagic for our fellow sisters.
There is no doubt that the evolution of what used to be traditional prints reserved mainly for events, has really made an impact on what is now considered as day-to-day wear.
We caught businesswoman Basetsana Khumalo 'taking Africa to the world', as she headed to the Blue Note at Sea festival in an African print dress and doek from Blue Moon Print designs.
With women opting to use local make-up artists for events, Clarabanx, Nomsa Madida and Stephy the Make-up artist are a few of many that have become household names in the make-up game locally.
Here's a look at the magic that Clarabanx created with our very own BET-A List presenter Ayanda Thabethe. Her features look perfefctly defined and she just daringly gorgeous. Somebody say #BlaXcellence!
The power of a good accessory has been recognised, and celebrities are choosing to make the most of accessory trends. We've seen artists decked out in African traditional accessories from brands such as Ntozinhle Accessorise. They recently Instagrammed this picture of musician and radio DJ Unathi in a stunning black and white stunning neck piece.
