Tumi Morake breaks Comics’ Choice Awards record

Comedy was celebrated this past weekend at the Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards and comedians Skhumba and Tumi Morake walked away with the most prestigious awards of the night. Skhumba took the Flying Solo Award while Tumi Morake made history by becoming the first ever female to be crowned with the Edgars Comic of the Year Award.
Kagiso Lediga walked off with the Comics Pen Waldo for the second time since 2014 and Ebenhaezer Dibakwane walked away with the coveted Newcomer’s Award. Mashabela Galane won the Non-English Award while the Audience Choice Waldo was awarded to Summary.
The award ceremony was scripted by a team of comic writers with a line-up that featured local and Pan-African comedians. It’s been announced that as from next year a new category called Pan-African Comic of the Year will be available.

"All you need to be recognized as an authority is to be recognized by a recognized authority." Bangambiki Habyarimana. Congratulations to all the @comicschoice winners. #savannacca #cca2016awards
