Warren Masemola – “We sell magic”

Popular actor, Warren Masemola says as much as a dentist cannot perform a heart surgery, presenters should leave the acting to actors or take it seriously.

Warren, who has stolen the hearts of South African with his ability to transform form one character to another, said it is all because of his training and also taking every opportunity offered to him serious.

Warren said he pushes himself when it comes to his craft and that is evident in how he can take on a gay character of Thoko on the comedy "Ses'Top La", then plays the hardened thug Cosatu in the drama "Heist" convincingly.

"What drives me is professionalism and that is why me and some of my friends takes it personally when a presenter wants to act because a dentist can never be gynaecologist but yet they are both doctors. Its commitment and professionalism," Warren told BET Africa.

Warren took home his first South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) in 2015 for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Comedy for his role "Ses'Top La". This year he has been nominated in two categories for Best Supporting Actor – TV Drama for his role in "Heist" and Best Supporting Actor – TV Soap/Telenovela for his role as Stukkie in "Ring of Lies".
The actor said he appreciates the nominations because it is always a reminder for him to work even harder.

"Every nomination is just as important because it means you are relevant in the current work that you do. My schooling has always brought us up with the notion that says you are as good as your last job, so if you can still deliver and you are current, that deserves recognition," Warren told BET.

Warren stressed the fact that everybody that's given an opportunity to act should prepare and do research because if they don't they drag everybody else who prepares backwards.
"We sell magic through our work so people must take it seriously and prepare well when given an opportunity," Warren said.

Warren has acted in a number of productions such as "Saints and Sinners", "Scandal!", "Intersexions", "iNumber Number" and "Ayeye".
