Let your Twitter fingers catch the BET Social Awards

Imagine a one-of-a-kind show completely dedicated to recognising the best memes, influencers and trends in their best, worst and funniest form. Well, that’s exactly what BET’s Social Awards is.
The award show, which is executive produced by standup comedian and Uncle Buck’s Mike Epps, aims to collect all our favourite social media moments, from Salt Bae to Issa Rae’s “I’m rooting for everybody Black” during this social media extravaganza.
The event will be hosted by Ghanaian-born American comedian Michael Blackson, who has been making crowds laugh effortlessly on stage and social media. Affectionately named “The African King of Comedy”, you might know him from his hysterical performance on BET’s Comic View, or simply through his super lit “the haters have arrived” posts on his Instagram; a special serving of shade to the people who think they’re taking stabs at the comedian. With a solid social currency and a humor to match, you’re sure to have your LOL’s and “I’m screeaaming” moments watching the Social Awards.
You have to wonder what else could be in store for you at the Social Awards, right? A social media theme and host that gel perfectly is a millennial’s internet dream come true. Some of the hottest, funniest memes and social media celebrities such as Erykah Badu, Chrissy Teigen, Lil Yachty and Duckie Thot are nominated for awards across categories named after all your favourite internet lingo such as Issa Wave, Social Hustle and Clapback.
There’s even one for our #BlackLove goals on the ‘Gram under the category BaeWatch with Beyoncé & Jay Z, Teyana Taylor & Iman Shumpert and Cardi B & Offset as some of the couples nominated.
