Lights, camera, fashion! Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton will be transformed into a fashion lover’s paradise as the AFI Fashion Week kicks off tonight.
The four-day fashion extravaganza will see TV host and musician Nandi Mngoma showcasing for the first time tonight.
Nandi wowed US fashion critics at this year’s BET Awards when she walked the red carpet in one of her ‘Colour’ designs. She’s collaborated with local designer Inga Madyibi on the line.
It wouldn’t be a show without internationally acclaimed and award-winning designer David Tlale, who will be showcasing nine rising designers in The Intern. From this talented group, only one intern will be chosen as the winner, to be announced on the night.
Also showcasing will be KZN-born Siyethemba Duma of brand Matte Nolim. The brand is synonymous with good quality made garments with elegance and sophistication and using a creative edge to accessorise their garments.
For those who are fans of the Durban Kwaito movement, owner of Afrotainment DJ Tira got in on the Fastrack action. Fastrack is AFI’s way of remaining committed to growing a new legion of designers through targeting young designers on the continent.
