Tbo Touch to fight for the creative’s rights

Radio personality Tbo Touch and Joyous Celebration’s co-founder Lindelani Mkhize are reportedly in talks to start a new trade union for workers in the media industry. Touch who is also a businessman, says as a freelancer in the creative industry he feels like his ‘rights and those of others are not protected’ reports Daily Sun.
“He has met up with Lindelani several times to discuss how the union could be structured. They feel the current union doesn’t represent the member well,” a source said. “The two want to spearhead a new platform to ensure people’s jobs are protected – even when they get more work outside of their current gigs.”
The source further said Touch said the talented people are left out in the cold after taking on jobs with political parties and/or companies not affiliated to the entity they are contracted to, which is not fair. Confirming the trade union rumours, Touch said they’re still putting together documents but are not ready as yet.
BET asked RnB singer Llyod Cele’ s view on the matter and he said, “I’m not really clued up on it but if it adds value to the industry, then why not. Also there are lot of things that are happening in the industry, with dodge record label where you sign your soul away, so if it can protect such yeah maybe but lot of thing will pop now for different reasons, we must just make sure it is created for the good of everyone not just for individual benefit.”
